Pushing the Limits of Mass Timber: The EllisDon and DIALOG Hybrid Timber Floor System

In this session, Jordyn Tripp, alongside Anthony Ruscitti, Coordinator, Construction Sciences, EllisDon, and Mark Gaglione, Director, Construction Sciences, EllisDon, will present EllisDon and DIALOG’s collaboration on the composite concrete timber floor panel system. They will delve into the system’s research and development process, composite technology intricacies, and the results achieved through testing and prototype production. The speakers will also showcase the system’s offsite prefabrication capabilities, carbon sustainability, and the long-span exposed ceilings it can achieve.

By combining cross-laminated timber (CLT) with post-tensioned concrete beams, this system sets a new standard in the industry. With an impressive 40-foot span and a low-profile design, it surpasses traditional CLT systems. The panel system not only reduces embodied carbon but also maximizes the use of sustainably harvested wood.
