Design Guides for Decarbonized Healthcare

In the session, speakers will focus on the two most recent design guides from the California Energy Commission and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), to create decarbonized hospitals. They will detail the efforts ASHRAE is taking to decarbonize the healthcare physical environment; list the strategies necessary to build a decarbonized new hospital; explore model codes for jurisdictions interested in pursuing decarbonization of the local building stock; and discern the impact of operational and embodied carbon and how to mitigate.
