On Wednesday, November 22, DIALOG and EllisDon hosted an evening to celebrate timber, innovation, and research and development at the FPInnovations Lab testing facility, in Vancouver.

Gathering with clients, industry contacts, and the community, DIALOG and EllisDon showcased their large-scale research and development prototype, the Hybrid Timber Floor System (HTFS). The HTFS combines cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels with reinforced and prestressed concrete to create a long-span, low carbon alternate to steel and concrete systems. This system proves that mass timber products can efficiently and economically span long distances, allowing applications beyond typical mass timber buildings.

DIALOG Associate and structural engineer Cameron Ritchie (speaking) presented a keynote on the HTFS, alongside EllisDon Directors of Construction Sciences, Vincent Davenport and Mark Gaglione.
