DIALOG Entry Among Shortlisted Designs to Re-imagine Space Under Toronto’s Gardiner Expressway
January 14, 2022
“What if an urban obstacle could reconnect us?” This is the question posed by Waterfront ReConnect, a collaboration between The Bentway, the City of Toronto, the Waterfront Business Improvement Area, and the Toronto Downtown West Business Improvement Area.
It’s in response to Toronto’s elevated Gardiner Expressway that cuts across the length of the city, creating a physical and psychological barrier between the city’s core and the vibrant and evolving waterfront.
DIALOG in collaboration with LeuWebb Projects and Mulvery & Banani Lighting are pleased to have our design proposal “Waking the Shore” among six shortlisted entries following a national call for submissions that re-imagine and enhance the space and public experience under the Gardiner Expressway.
Two design will be selected an installed along Lake Shore Boulevard at the intersections of York and Simcoe Streets.
We Want to Hear From You!
On January 10, the six shortlisted teams presented their design proposals. Watch the presentations here, then submit your feedback on how you’d like to see the space transformed. The survey closes January 19.
