DIALOG’s patent-pending cross-laminated timber floor system and hybrid supertall tower prototype featured in the September issue of Architectural Record.
Mass timber is gaining traction in the construction industry. The draw is both from agility in being able to manufacture components off-site, and – most significantly – for the positive environmental implications. While wood is a renewable resource, tall wood buildings have historically depended on heavy timber sourced from old growth forest resources. Relying instead on sustainably managed forests, engineered mass timber products, and the embodied carbon they store, have the potential to transform the future of wood construction.
In the September 2022 issue of Architectural Record, senior editor Joann Gonchar spotlights the rise of interest in mass timber builds in her article, Mass Timber on the Rise. DIALOG Partners Craig Applegath and Charles Marshall explain how our mixed-use Zero Carbon Hybrid Timber Supertall Prototype and patent-pending hybrid timber floor system (HTFS) in development with EllisDon, hold great promise of what’s to come.
