DOT DIALOG: The Human Senses

‘DOT DIALOG: The Human Senses’ is a multi-sensory exploration of how design connects to the human experience. Presented by DIALOG for DesignTO 2025 and hosted at our Toronto office, this interactive exhibition aligns with the festival’s themes of sustainability, technology, and social justice.

‘DOT’ stands for Discover, Observe, and Test and is an exploration of the human senses tied to the practice of architecture through the lens of DIALOG. The exhibition invites guests to engage through the reflection of our practice, uncovering how design transforms abstract ideas into tangible solutions. At its heart is a striking grid of suspended square tiles, each reflecting light, colour, and texture in dynamic ways. Surrounding this central installation are five sensory experiences inspired by real DIALOG projects. These installations highlight how architecture, interior design, engineering, and landscape design engage sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell to create meaningful, human-centred spaces. Visitors can explore how sound enhances public connections, touch reveals the story of materials, and scent brings landscapes to life, among other sensory explorations.

Through this immersive journey, ‘DOT DIALOG: The Human Senses’ showcases the creativity and care that drive DIALOG’s approach to sustainable and joyful spaces. It reflects our commitment to addressing pressing issues like climate change, inclusivity, ethical urban development, and the integration of culture into design, while embracing the beauty and complexity of the human senses.
