Join DIALOG’s Fiza Tariq, Associate and designer, and Farah Al Amin, intern architect, along with a diverse lineup of internationally trained professionals for an evening of networking and mentorship at Toronto Society of Architects (TSA) CONNECT 2023 on Tuesday, November 14, at the Centre for Social Innovation, in Toronto.

TSA CONNECT 2023 | Session 4: Newcomers

In this session of TSA CONNECT, Fiza Tariq and Farah Al Amin, alongside a diverse group of internationally trained professionals and newcomers will share how they all successfully navigated transitioning their lives and careers to Canada – each in their own unique way.

With degrees, licenses, and professional experience from around the world, this lineup of featured guests will share how they have managed to translate their experiences into a wide variety of career paths – including traditional architectural practice, boutique design firms, and working for the public sector – since moving to Canada.

Attendees will be sure to have a fun and insightful evening, making some connections, and hearing some of the many stories and advice on career paths and job searching.

About Fiza Tariq 

About Farah Al Amin 

Farah Al Amin is an international architect and designer, currently an OAA intern architect, with more than a decade of professional experience in Canada and the Middle East, where she received her education and co-founded Tri Design Studio before relocating to Canada in 2019.

Throughout her career, she has worked on projects of different scales, from art installations to master planning, and has been involved in various building typologies, including civic, educational, residential, and healthcare projects.

She considers every project an opportunity to be curious, explore, collaborate, tell a story, and ultimately elevate the human experience of living.

The Toronto Society of Architects hosts evenings of networking and relationship building, featuring guests from Toronto’s architecture and design industry sharing their experiences, perspectives, and advice on issues of practice, career, and life. Each session features new guests, topics, and small group discussions, giving participants the opportunity to ask questions and form connections with internationally trained professionals.
