DIALOG’s Neil Robson and Matthew Gow Present at the 2024 Transportation Association of Canada Conference

September 23, 2024

DIALOG’s Neil Robson, Partner and Structural Engineer, and Matthew Gow, Structural Engineer, are presenting at the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) Conference on Tuesday, September 24, in Vancouver, BC. Their presentations will highlight Alberta’s Bow Valley Gap Wildlife Overpass, set to be completed in Fall 2024.

Connecting for the Future: Wildlife Crossing Design Solutions

Measures to mitigate animal-vehicle collisions can enhance road safety and minimize impacts on wildlife populations.

DIALOG’s Neil Robson and fellow industry leaders will focus on key considerations for the planning and delivery of projects to mitigate animal-vehicle collisions, and on lessons learned from them.

Design and Delivery of Wildlife and Ecological Connectivity Infrastructure Across Canada

Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors (ATEC) delivered their first wildlife overpass crossing structure in Fall 2024. The crossing, known as the Bow Valley Gap overpass, is over Highway 1 between Calgary and Canmore at the entrance to the Bow Valley. As the first project of its kind, delivered by ATEC, numerous lessons were learned during the design and construction processes.

In this session, DIALOG’s Matthew Gow will summarize key lessons learned during construction. It focuses on actionable lessons that can be applied to future wildlife crossing projects by owners, designers, and contractors.
