Stephanie Fargas, DIALOG associate and specifier, and Audrina Lim, Director of Carbon Transition, Chandos Construction, will present a session titled “The Future of Sustainability in Construction” at a dinner event hosted by Construction Specifications Canada – Edmonton on Thursday, January 18, 2024, taking place at the NAIT Productivity and Innovation Centre in Edmonton.
The Future of Sustainability in Construction
The presentation will address the future of sustainability in construction from a contractor and consultant’s perspective. Stephanie Fargas and Audrina Lim will discuss policy and industry drivers for sustainable development, as well as explore future trends focused on embodied carbon reduction strategies, applying circular economy principles, and best practices for evaluating materials for its impact on human health and social equity. Stephanie proudly led the research and development of specifications for Canada’s first Living Building Challenge: The Bill Fisch Forest Stewardship and Education Centre.
About the speakers:
Stephanie Fargas is one of the youngest female Registered Specification Writer (RSW) in Canada, recognized by her peers as an emerging leader in specifications. She has a wealth of experience and leadership in specifications for material product research and preparing project manuals for various project sectors across Canada and the United States. Passionate about sustainability, Stephanie is committed to guiding material transparency and embodied carbon.
Audrina Lim is an architect with 20 years of professional experience, practicing in Australia and Canada. Her interest in ethical, sustainable development has empowered her to shift careers into the sustainability realm within an innovative General Contractor, Chandos Construction. Audrina’s role as the Director of Carbon Transition holds a mandate to help shape internal policy, practice, measurement, and research to bring Chandos’ goal of Net Zero 2040 into action.
