DIALOG Partner Emeritus Dr. Jim Montgomery was honoured by the University of Alberta for his lasting contributions to the structural engineering community and to Canadian infrastructure.
On May 15, UAlberta announced the Jim Montgomery Endowment in Structural Engineering, celebrating Jim’s legacy as a professor, consultant, and leader. The endowment will support graduate students conducting research in the I.F. Morrison Structural Engineering Laboratory, where Jim taught and inspired many.

Jim has led DIALOG’s structural engineering team since 1988, leading projects across Canada in bridge, building, industrial, and civil engineering. His collaborative spirit and leadership have consistently driven innovative solutions and strong partnerships with our design and construction teams.
A respected leader in the field, Jim received the 2007 Centennial Leadership Award from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA). He also earned the 2010 Consulting Engineers of Alberta Lieutenant Governor’s Award and was named a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineers in 2012.
