Beyond Buzzwords: Marketing Sustainability in the Built Environment

With climate impacts and regulations on the rise, clients expect more information about your firm’s sustainability practices than ever before. At the same time, environmental marketing claims are under more scrutiny than ever before. How can AEC marketing and business development professionals navigate this challenging topic while advocating for sustainable business growth?

The panel discussion will define key terminology and industry requirements that marketers need to know when promoting sustainability in the built environment. Panelists will then share their perspectives on marketing and business development strategies and risks:

  • What are the key drivers and trends of sustainability and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) in the AEC industry?
  • How can marketers strike the right balance between compelling narratives and precise technical information to engage audiences?
  • How can firms maintain authenticity and transparency in their communication strategies while avoiding the pitfalls of greenwashing?
  • What actions are firms taking with their clients and within their organizations to produce positive change?

Panelists:

  • Mara Baum, Partner and Architect, DIALOG
  • Jess Hamann, Associate Principal and Chief Marketing & Mission Officer, Mazzetti
  • Laura Guzman, VP of Marketing and Communications, XL Construction
  • Phillip Gangan, Sustainable Design Specialist at HOK
  • Justin Nagy, Marketing Director at Stok
