Let’s get real about mental health

May 1, 2020

“Working from home has given me a new appreciation for the people I work with. I’ve met more people’s kids and pets over the past two months than ever before – seeing inside each other’s homes and catching families in the background remind us that we are all balancing a lot in our lives. It’s important to check in with each other beyond the project work we share.”

Steven Oosterhof, DIALOG Principal and Structural Engineer

Let’s continue to shift societal beliefs and perceptions about mental health. Support the conversation: It’s time to #GetReal

As we face the COVID-19 global pandemic, we need each other now more than ever. It’s time to get real about how we feel and lean on others for support.

It’s common to say we’re fine, even when we don’t really mean it. Every time we just go through the motions, we miss a chance to connect with others in a meaningful way.

We know that social connection and social support are factors that protect and promote good mental health. Feeling socially connected means you feel close and connected to others, and you don’t have to be in physical proximity to nurture a sense of closeness and connection.

This Mental Health Week, let’s say more than just “I’m fine.” Let’s have real conversations with our family, friends, neighbours, and coworkers about how we’re all really doing. Check out Your Mental Health Week for practical advice, articles, and information to help you #GetReal about how you feel.
