PCL Construction | DIALOG + Stantec to design and build the new Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre
February 19, 2020
The Government of Alberta announced that the PCL Construction | DIALOG + Stantec design-build team are the successful proponents of the new Calgary Cancer Project, located at the Foothills Medical Centre Campus. Anticipated to open in 2023, the new Calgary Cancer Centre will centralize treatment and care for cancer patients in southern Alberta.
Symbolizing the type of care a patient can expect to receive, the design features two curving L shaped forms that come together in an embrace surrounding an all season exterior garden as the “heart”. The heart will provide year-round access and views to nature for patients and their families as they receive care and treatment.
“For anybody facing cancer and the long journey that goes with it – the new cancer centre is our home away from home. And what a home. World-class medical treatment and a home filled with light and life. The centre radiates hope and hope is a powerful force.” – Susan Cardinal, cancer survivor and member of the Patient and Family Advisory Network
DIALOG, in collaboration with Stantec, is responsible for the architectural and interior design of the new Calgary Cancer Centre, as well as structural, mechanical and electrical engineering. DIALOG will also provide landscape planning and urban design.
We are proud to contribute to the design of this state-of-the-art facility, uniting community and healthcare for Albertans.
