In this session, attendees will get an inside look at the new Valley Line LRT, one of the most innovative transit projects Edmonton has ever seen; they will explore the progress and philosophy behind both stages of the multi-billion dollar project. A new 27 kilometre low-floor, urban style LRT system, the Valley Line LRT will connect Edmonton’s downtown to Mill Woods in southeast Edmonton and Lewis Farms in west Edmonton.
Project team members Sandra Renihan, Structures & Facilities Lead, OE, will join Chris Gentile, Valley Line Director, LRT Expansion & Renewal, Integrated Infrastructure Services, City of Edmonton; and Josh Jones, Project Manager, OE, AECOM, to share how they reimagined a traditional transit corridor to compliment the urban and natural ecosystems around it, while also enhancing passenger experience and community benefit.
In this presentation, members of the City of Edmonton Valley Line team and connectEd Transit Partnership (CTP) will discuss the inception of the Valley Line, the vision for the system (and why this was novel for Edmonton) and what is happening for each stage of the project along with what is yet to come.

Members of AECOM and Sandra Renihan will lead a guided walking tour of Edmonton’s Valley Line LRT, showcasing its unique features in the urban core. During the brief one-hour tour, attendees will see how the new low-floor LRT infrastructure is integrated into Edmonton’s urban landscape which offers a glimpse into the city’s commitment to sustainable transportation and urban development.
The tour begins at 4:30 p.m. MT at the Westin Edmonton lobby.
