DIALOG is proud to celebrate three of our own — Marion LaRue, Kate Gerson, and Mona Lemoine — who were recently inducted into the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) College of Fellows on March 7. This prestigious Fellowship is awarded to RAIC members who have made outstanding contributions to the architectural profession and the broader community.
Their dedication to mentorship and inclusivity, climate-resilient design practices, and advancing the profession across the board reflects the core values we champion as a practice.
The official convocation ceremony will take place on June 3, 2025, during the RAIC Conference in Montreal, where they will be formally recognized for their contributions. Learn more about the RAIC College of Fellows and see the full list of 2025 inductees on the RAIC website.
Meet the Fellows:
Kate Gerson: Champion of Mentorship and Inclusivity
Kate’s impact on architecture extends far beyond her design work on numerous public projects that are both beautiful and functional; her leadership and mentorship endeavors are shaping the next generation of architects through hands-on experiences and knowledge-sharing. As a founding member of Women in Architecture (WIA) Vancouver, Kate leads a platform that supports underrepresented voices in the industry, particularly women of colour and newcomers to Canada. She plays a pivotal role in organizing WIA’s “Career Path” events and other initiatives that empower women in the field.
Kate also mentors interns, preparing for their oral registration exams, helping them navigate the challenges of professional practice. Through her dedication to fostering inclusivity and elevating others, Kate has built a legacy of support and empowerment within the architectural community.
Marion LaRue: Elevating Wellbeing in the Built Environment
With nearly 40 years of experience, Marion has been instrumental in shaping public spaces that integrate health, community, and sustainability. Her expertise in sports, recreation, and institutional projects has contributed to transformative designs, such as the Vivo for Healthier Generations Recreation Centre in Calgary and Simon Fraser University’s Student Residences and Dining Commons.
Marion’s commitment to mentorship and advocacy for women in the AEC industry is equally inspiring. A leader within DIALOG and a member of the firm’s Governing Council, she has championed gender equity, built inclusive teams, and laid the groundwork for a more equitable future for young women in design.
Mona Lemoine: Leading Climate Action and Regenerative Design
Mona’s career is defined by a commitment to sustainability, climate action, and regenerative design. Her leadership within the RAIC as the founding chair of the Committee on Regenerative Environments (CORE) and co-chair of the RAIC Climate Action Plan Steering Committee has driven impactful initiatives, including the RAIC’s Resolution for Urgent and Sustained Action on Climate and Ecological Health.
Beyond her role at DIALOG, Mona has made a significant impact on the broader industry through her past leadership as Vice President of Education and Events at the International Living Future Institute and through her role as a juror for prestigious architectural awards, including RAIC’s International Prize, the Award of Excellence – Green Buildings, and the NSAA Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Architecture. She continues to inspire architects across Canada by championing holistic approaches to the built environment that address climate change, biodiversity, and social equity.
Congratulations to Kate, Marion, and Mona on this well-earned distinction. We are incredibly proud to have such exceptional leaders among us at DIALOG!
