Vancouver House and Telus Sky Win Big with Six CTBUH Awards

June 22, 2021

Two DIALOG projects were recently recognized with awards from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) Awards Program.

The CTBUH Annual Awards Program recognizes projects and individuals that have made extraordinary contributions to the advancement of tall buildings and the urban environment, and that achieve sustainability at the highest and broadest level. The awards program delivers a comprehensive and sophisticated view of these important buildings, spaces, and technologies, while advocating for improvements in every aspect of performance, especially those that have the greatest effect on their everyday users.

DIALOG is proud to have received a total of six awards for our Vancouver House and Telus Sky projects.

Best Tall Building Worldwide

Vancouver House

For the coveted title of “Best Tall Building Worldwide,” the jury selected Vancouver House, an award shared with our project collaborator Bjarke Ingels Group. The project went on to also win several other category titles, including Best Tall Building 100-199 Meters, Best Tall Residential or Hotel Building, and the Structural Engineering Award.

Best Tall Building Jury Chair Karl Fender praised Vancouver House as a “formally striking building brilliantly conceptualized to enhance its surroundings from a seemingly improbable development site.”

These tremendous accolades would not have been possible without the collaboration of our multidisciplinary DIALOG team who provided architecture, interior design, and planning & urban design services, together with many collaborators, consultants, and contractors including: Glotman Simpson Consulting Engineers, Integral Group, Nemetz & Associates, PFS Studio, Morrison Hershfield, BVDA Group Ltd., WSP Canada Inc., and ICON Pacific Construction Corp.

Telus Sky

Telus Sky in Calgary, another collaboration with Bjarke Ingels Group, was awarded Best Tall Building 200-299 meters Overall Category Winner and Best Tall Mixed-Use Building 2021 Award of Excellence.
