Toronto is getting hotter.
By 2080, the city could face more than 55 extreme heat days each year, up from an average of just 10 today. In an increasingly crowded city, more people rely on shared public spaces for relief. That means designing those spaces for comfort is essential.
On TVO’s The Agenda, DIALOG Associate and Senior Urban Planner Dorsa Jalalian talks about thermal comfort and explains how thoughtful, human-centered design can help cities adapt to climate change and create comfortable spaces for everybody.
In this segment, What is Thermal Comfort?, TVO features Jalalian and the City of Toronto’s Kristina Reinders as they share how the city is reimagining public spaces to stay livable throughout the year – using the Thermal Comfort Guidelines, developed in partnership with the City of Toronto and Buro Happold, to help build a more resilient and equitable city.
