We’re committed to protecting the personal information of our clients, employees, and partners, as well as anyone submitting personal information for potential employment, the scholarships we sponsor, or any other initiative sponsored by our studios.

PRIVACY POLICY 

This Privacy Policy has been developed to inform you of how we collect, use, disclose and otherwise treat personal information that is collected in connection with your relationship with DIALOG. This Privacy Policy applies regardless of how you interact with DIALOG, whether it be a wireless or mobile device, a personal computer, or any other device, or if you interact with us offline, separate and apart from this website. This Privacy Policy governs only the Information collected by us or in connection with your interactions with DIALOG and does not cover information collected by any other entity or third party. Here are a few terms we may use throughout this Privacy Policy and what they mean: 

Information” means both Personal Information as well as any anonymously collected information collected while using our website. 

Personal Information” means any data or information that could be used to personally identify any person. 

INFORMATION WE COLLECT  

Website: 

When you visit our website, we may collect personal identifiers and usage data, including geolocation data.  

Marketing Information: You may choose to sign up for our newsletter. To do so, we require your email address. We collect this information directly from you.   

Automatic Data Collection:  

Usage Data, including geolocation data. This website may use embedded scripts, pixels, or web beacons (“Tracking Technologies”) to collect information automatically as you interact with the website. We utilize Google Analytics on our website. By utilizing these technologies, we can enhance your experience with our website and create a more customized and seamless user experience.  

We do not use cookies on our website. 

User and Event data tracks how you are using our website, collecting log and device data such as your approximate physical location, browser type and version, operating system and platform, pages viewed, time and data of your visit, time spent on the site, unique device identifiers and other relevant statistics. When you access our site through a mobile device, may collect certain information automatically, including, but not limited to, the type of mobile device you use, your mobile device unique ID, your mobile operating system, the type of mobile Internet browser you use, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data. 

The data we receive is anonymous and we use this data to see where users are clicking and where they are spending their time, which helps us improve our website and customer service standards.  

Offline: 

When we interact with you offline, we may collect personal identifiers, professional or employment related information, or education information directly from you.  

Public Engagement: If you attend an open house relating to a project or development, you may choose to register your attendance, including your name and contact information so you can be kept informed about the project. Photos may also be taken at those events and used for communications and marketing purposes. Individuals can choose not to have their photos taken.  

Contractors or Consulting Teams: Contract and consulting teams contributing to project proposals may provide their resumes and qualifications, as required by the client request for proposal. Contact information of references may also be provided, which may include Personal Information.  

Employment: 

If you choose to submit information for potential employment or the scholarships we sponsor, or are an employee of DIALOG, we may collect your personal identifiers, personal information categories listed in the California Civil Code, characteristics of protected classifications under California or federal law, professional or employment-related information and education information directly from you, as well as from references you may provide to us.  

HOW AND WHY WE COLLECT AND USE YOUR INFORMATION 

We collect your Personal Information only when reasonably necessary and proportionate to achieve the following business purposes: 

  • For performing service on behalf of the business  
  • To operate our business 
  • To provide you with support and respond to your inquiries, including to investigate and address your concerns  
  • For internal administrative and auditing purposes 
  • For security and to protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity 

Website: 

Improve our website: Anonymous tracking information is used internally so we can continually improve our website, add new features and ensure our website is working accurately and efficiently.  

Marketing Communications: If you sign up for our newsletter, we will use your email to send you communications. You will always have the ability and option to unsubscribe from these messages.  

Offline: 

We use your Personal Information only for the purpose you provided it to us, as described above.  

Public Engagement: If you sign up to receive project updates, we will use your information to send you communications. You will always have the ability and option to unsubscribe from these messages.   

Contractors and Consulting Teams: If you or your team is contributing to a project proposal, we will use your resume, qualifications and references only as required to complete the client request for proposal.  

Employment: 

DIALOG collects and uses information provided for employment only for the following employment management purposes, unless required or authorized by law: 

  • Employee recruitment, classification, and compensation  
  • Occupational health and safety 
  • Performance and conduct evaluation 
  • Professional development 
  • Payroll and benefits administration 

Law: We may use your Personal Information if required by law or in order to comply with any provincial, federal or local law, or court order.  

DISCLOSURE 

DIALOG will not sell, lease, share, or trade your Personal Information to third parties, including the Personal Information of those under 16 years of age. We won’t use or disclose Personal Information other than for the purpose it was collected, unless we have your consent or as permitted or required by law. 

DIALOG does not disclose sensitive personal information to third parties.   

Additional Disclosures: There may be instances when we may access or disclose Information without providing you with a choice. That generally includes the following circumstances: 

  • To protect against fraud or for risk management purposes;  
  • To protect or defend the legal rights of this company, its employees, agents, and contractors; or 
  • To comply with the law or legal process 

DATA RETENTION 

DIALOG will only retain your personal information for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out above. We will retain and use your personal information only to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our legal agreements and policies. 

Anonymous information:  We retain anonymous information as described above as long as required to continue improving the DIALOG website. Specifically, Event Data is retained for 2 months, and User Data is retained for 14 months.  

Legal Obligations: We will keep your Personal Information as long as it is necessary to comply with any laws, courts orders, and the like.  

USER CHOICE, WITHDRAWAL OF CONSENT AND ACCESS 

You are considered to have consented to the collection, use or disclosure of your personal information for a particular purpose if you voluntarily provided the information for that purpose and it is reasonable to assume that you would normally provide that information voluntarily.

You can also “opt-out” of receiving emails from us at any time by sending an email to us at general@dialogdesign.ca 

Analytics: Google Analytics allows you to opt-out of any data collection. Please contact Google for more information.

  • You have the right to access the Personal Information DIALOG has collected about you.  
  • You have the right to correct any inaccurate Personal Information DIALOG has collected about you.  

SECURITY 

While it is important to note that no method of storing or transmitting information is 100% secure from breach, we maintain every reasonable physical, electronic and procedural safeguard to protect your Personal Information.  

CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS 

If you are a resident of California, you have the following additional rights regarding your personal information:  

  • You have the right to request and obtain information about the categories and specific pieces of Personal Information we have collected about you, including the categories of sources whom which the personal information is collected, the business or commercial purpose for collecting, selling, or sharing personal information, the categories of third parties to whom DIALOG discloses personal information. 
  • You have the right to delete Personal Information that DIALOG has collected from you, subject to certain exceptions. 
  • You have the right to opt-out of the sale or sharing of your personal information by DIALOG, if we sell or share personal information. 
  • You have the right to limit the use or disclosure of sensitive personal information by DIALOG, if DIALOG uses or discloses sensitive personal information for reasons other than those set forth in section 7027, subsection(l) of the California Consumer Privacy Act.  

Only you, or a person that you authorize to act on your behalf, may make a verifiable request related to your Personal Information. Your request to us must provide sufficient information that allows us to reasonably verify you are the person about whom we collected personal information or an authorized representative and describe your request with sufficient detail that allows us to properly understand, evaluate and respond to it. We cannot respond to your request or provide you with the required information if we cannot verify your identity or authority to make the request and confirm that the Personal Information relates to you. We will disclose and deliver the required information free of charge within 45 days.  

We will never discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights. This means that we will not deny you access to our website or service, charge any different prices or rates, or provide you with a different level or quality of service based on the exercise of your rights.

PRIVACY POLICY CHANGES 

From time to time, we may modify this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the law, the Information collected, or use and disclosure practices, and such modifications will be effective upon posting. Your continued use of the website after we post a revised Privacy Policy signifies your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy
