Mount Royal Hotel

Patchwork Canadiana

Hospitality

With a history spanning over a century, Mount Royal Hotel is a layered piece of architecture, representing four eras – the ’40s, ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. It has a legacy as a significant Banff hotel and holds a prominent place on a full block in the heart of downtown. After a devastating fire, the hotel has been redesigned to celebrate its rich history. The renovation of its exterior, entrance, lobby, 135 rooms, hallways, and rooftop focuses on its storied past by leaning into the building’s evolution over generations. The design weaves together a historical patchwork of the Rocky Mountain experience.

No detail spared, these communal spaces carry the design story from common spaces to private spaces.
