In his role as Managing Partner, Fadi collaborates closely with the Practice Chair, the Governing Council, the Studio Chairs, as well as the general Partnership, to help set the tone, vision, and goals for the practice. Overseeing the Management and Operations Team, Fadi’s strategic approach and leadership ensure that DIALOG’s operations align with the practice’s mission and strategic plan. His commitment to fostering collaboration and maintaining a diverse team across studios and disciplines reflects his belief in the power of collective expertise to drive innovation, design excellence, and overall success.
A structural engineer with over 40 years of experience designing commercial, residential, industrial, and institutional buildings, Fadi has worked on many impactful projects such as the UBC Irving K. Barber Learning Centre, the Iona building at UBC, SFU’s Central City in Surrey, and International Village in downtown Vancouver. Other major projects include the Ice District in Edmonton, and two stations on the Broadway Subway line in Vancouver.
Fadi also specializes in seismic upgrading and retrofitting of existing buildings. The City of North Vancouver recognized Fadi with various heritage and design awards for the seismic upgrade of its two heritage buildings: Queen Mary and Ridgeway Schools. Other awards include the Parkgate Community Centre and the UBC Centre for Comparative Medicine.
As the former leader of our Vancouver structural group, Fadi’s expertise in structural design and project management fostered effective and efficient design teams. His effective communication style and respect for others’ ideas and strengths are rooted in his honed listening skills, which he sees as the best way to ensure success for both the client and DIALOG. Fadi’s attentive management style results in unique and outstanding designs that display architectural excellence while respecting safety, schedules, and budgets.
