Yury brings design expertise across a wide range of materials and building sectors. His particular passion is implementing mass timber and hybrid solutions in residential, cultural, and recreational buildings.
Known for his ability to conceptualize structural systems early in the design process, Yury develops solutions that are both architecturally expressive and structurally efficient. A strong advocate for sustainable design, he believes structural engineering plays a critical role in reducing the construction industry’s carbon footprint.
A team player, Yury fosters true collaboration, where continuing relationships across disciplines promote cross-pollination of ideas and lead to holistic design solutions. He values strong relationships with colleagues and clients inside and outside the studio.
Yury is dedicated to DIALOG’s culture of purpose and responsibility to positively contribute to the world by practicing great design. Outside the studio, Yury seeks spending time by the ocean or in the mountains, where he connects with the nature, himself, family, and friends.
What is your favorite DIALOG initiative?
Design Reviews in the Vancouver Studio. It’s deeply educational and inspiring to experience different disciplines presenting their design for anyone’s feedback.
If you could work a ‘day-in-the-life’ of another discipline, whose would it be?
Landscape Architecture! I get captivated by a thoughtful landscape design. It is a complex and impactful task to create a meaningful transition between an exterior environment and a building.
Where is your happy place?
I grew up by the sea, and I live by the ocean. Next to it, I feel present, connected, and deeply appreciative of simple things in life.
What’s one ‘Pro Tip’ you live by?
Less is more.
