Our Team
Mona Lovgreen Partner, Architect BED | MArch | AIA CA, NY, CO | Architect AIBC | LEED® AP (BD+C) San Francisco

Mona is the lead architect on a variety of comprehensive planning and mixed-use developments, including The River Mile, one of the largest mixed-use developments in Denver. Mona has set a clear direction for our new studio that aligns with our overall vision, working across organizational boundaries and with key stakeholders. In leading efforts to grow our professional network and presence in the Bay Area, she connects the dots between our diverse expertise by thinking globally and locally about how we add value to clients. As former San Francisco Studio Chair, Mona helped to connect our clients, our local relationships, and DIALOGers to deliver world-class service and design from our first US studio.

Mona uses her background in environmental, architectural, and urban design to work at various scales. From a single structure to large urban master plans, she applies contextual design principles that focus on the user interface and the dynamic public realm. She thrives in complex projects that require an unconventional approach and uses her critical thinking skills to resolve them effectively.  Mona is hands-on with all of her projects and inspires her team to perform their best in fulfilling each project’s unique vision. As a result, she has built trust and credibility with clients for meeting their expectations. Mona is committed to supporting the development of her fellow DIALOGers and works hard to create a strong team and ensure a vibrant culture that aligns with our overall mission.

Mona is actively engaged in the professional community and sits on various local and national boards. She is currently the co-chair of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) 2020 Fall Conference Tours Committee and the ULI San Francisco Programs Committee chair. Mona is an active member of the San Francisco Bay Area Planning and Urban Research Association (SPUR) and sits on the Urban Infrastructure Committee.

What’s your favourite DIALOG project?
Denver River Mile. This 15 million sq ft development on a 62-acre site in downtown Denver is a truly mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly and transit-oriented development.

Where do you find inspiration?
Travelling to new places and experiencing unique cultures and ways of life.

What’s your favourite mode of transportation?
Taking San Francisco’s historic cable car to work.

What inspires me most is the unique opportunity that we have in our San Francisco studio – effectively, the potential of a start-up within our established firm. I wake up thinking about ways that I can help grow this practice and make it successful.
