Xápayay, Place of Cedars Indigenous Affordable Housing is a sustainable development that provides culturally safe and affordable homes for Indigenous Peoples. The site is located in the unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəyəm (Musqueam), Skwxwu7mesh (Squamish), and səlili̓lw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations in an area known as, Xápayay – Place of Cedars.

The new sustainable, multi-generational community will consist of an 18-storey tower with multiple diverse gathering spaces, including a rooftop amenity space. This social housing project will provide 185 apartments and 6 live-work units prioritized for the use of Indigenous Peoples. The building’s unique design reflects Indigenous design values and culture and includes community-building, multi-generational features such as a longhouse, garden beds, a greenhouse, neighbourhood-serving commercial spaces, opportunities for artwork, and spaces for outdoor dining and meal sharing.

The base of the residential tower is inspired by Indigenous formline design concepts and Indigenous artwork will be incorporated throughout the site.
