Our Team
Nick Kennedy Associate, Senior Interior Designer   Intern Interior Designer AAA, BAID, NCIDQ, RHFAC Calgary

Nick joined our Calgary studio in 2013 and has since become a senior interior designer specializing in complex healthcare, institutional, and cultural projects. An advocate for environments promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, he fosters innovation to craft purposeful, functional spaces that are accessible and support community wellbeing. With a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration and engagement, Nick creates spaces that beautifully respond to the diverse needs of the communities they serve.

As a Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certified (RHFAC) professional, Nick serves as the Chair of enableDIALOG, a practice-wide initiative focused on accessibility and universal design strategies across all DIALOG studios. His work in this role has established him as a thought leader and mentor, enriching the dialogue around accessibility and inclusive design within the broader practice.  Through his commitment to professional development, including completing the BuildDIALOG leadership development program, participating in the Indigenous Storytelling Team, and chairing the enableDIALOG roundtable, Nick exemplifies a dedication to meaningful design and continues to enhance DIALOG’s practice.

Nick’s expertise in healthcare and cultural projects has been instrumental to DIALOG’s success. His collaborative and positive attitude has enriched significant facilities, including the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre, Dartmouth General Hospital, UHN Toronto Western Hospital New Patient and Surgical Tower, Vivo for Healthier Generations, and the redevelopment of the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. Through his thoughtful leadership and dedication to inclusive design, Nick shapes spaces that reflect DIALOG’s commitment to community wellbeing and design excellence.

What’s your favorite DIALOG project?

The Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre exemplifies how interdisciplinary design creates amazing spaces. The commitment to patient, family, and staff wellbeing is evident throughout the entire facility and fosters a magical feeling of hope and resiliency.

How do you hope your work positively impacts our communities and environment?

Inclusion drives innovation. I hope my work in designing accessible and inclusive spaces uplifts our communities and supports diverse voices being celebrated, and leads to even more enriched and meaningful designs.

What’s your happy place?

I spent my youth exploring the forests of Treaty 3 and the mountains of Treaties 6 and 7. My happy place is still wandering a trail in nature, whether a casual walk by the river or scrambling up a ridge.
